Terminology

  1. Color Sort Puzzles: Water Sort, Ball Sort, and Nuts and Bolts all belong to color sort games, sharing the same game logic. This site provides different visual adaptations for them.
  2. Colors: This manual uniformly uses "colors" to refer to water, balls, or nuts in specific games.
  3. Containers: This manual uniformly uses "containers" to refer to bottles or bolts in specific games.

Getting Started

Default Container Segments

The default number of segments a new container can hold.

Customizing Colors

The solver allows you to customize colors to match your puzzle exactly:

  1. Using Custom Colors

    • You can use any CSS color code, including:
      • Named colors (e.g., "red", "blue", "green")
      • Hex color codes (e.g., "#f4a460")
    • For a complete list of named colors, click here

  2. Managing Your Color Palette

    • To modify existing colors, first use the "Reduce Color" button to clear all current colors
    • Your custom color palette will be automatically saved for future use

Setting Up Your Puzzle

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Filling the Containers

    • Click on a container to select it
    • Click on a color from your palette to fill the container
    • Repeat until all containers are filled according to your puzzle
    • Use "Extra Container" and "Extend Container" to add/extend one segment of a container, just like boosters🆕

  2. Verify Your Setup

    • A counter displays the number of segments filled with each color
    • This helps you verify your setup is correct
    • Each color should appear exactly N times of the default segment count

  3. Solving the Puzzle

    • Once your puzzle is properly set up, click the "Solve" button
    • The solver will attempt to find a solution
    • If a solution exists, it will be displayed step by step

Important Notes

  1. Unknown Colors

    • The solver cannot solve puzzles with unknown colors Why?
    • If you're stuck in a level with hidden colors:
      1. Reveal the colors in the game first
      2. Note down all colors
      3. Return to the solver and try again with complete information

  2. Unsolveable Puzzles

    • Some levels are intentionally designed to be unsolveable
    • These levels typically require the use of in-game boosts
    • If the solver cannot find a solution, this might be the case

  3. Color Blind Mode

    • Turn on color blind mode to add extra symbols for each color
    • Only supports Water Sort and Ball Sort

  4. Bugs

    • If you encounter any issues or believe there's a bug in the solver, please send feedback with the level data
